What this CPS test measures

A CPS test counts how many times you can click in a set time and reports your clicks per second. Pick 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, 60 or 100 seconds, click the green area as fast as you can, and the timer starts on your first click. You’ll see your click count, the seconds left and your live CPS while you go, then a rating and your best score for that duration when time runs out.

CPS test

It works with a mouse, trackpad, touchscreen or the space bar, and your best scores are kept in your browser so you can track improvement.

How to take the CPS test

  1. Choose a duration. 5 or 10 seconds is the standard used by most players; 1 second tests burst speed and 100 seconds tests endurance.
  2. Click the green box. The countdown starts with that first click, so there’s no reaction-time penalty.
  3. Click as fast as you can until the box turns dark.
  4. Read your CPS and rating, then click the box again or press Restart to retry.

What is a good CPS score?

CPS Rating Who gets it
Under 3 Slow Trackpads, careful single-finger clicking
3 to 5 Average Most people with a normal mouse
5 to 7 Good Regular gamers, fast single-finger clicking
7 to 9 Fast Two-finger or early jitter clicking
9 to 12 Very fast Practised jitter or butterfly clicking
12+ Elite Drag clicking on a suitable mouse

Scores drop as the duration gets longer: 10 CPS for 1 second is easy to hit with a burst, but 10 CPS held for 30 seconds is hard. Compare scores only within the same duration. The guide on how to click faster covers the techniques behind the top rows.

Why CPS matters in games

In Minecraft PvP, click speed decides how many hits you land and how much knockback you deal, which is why the 10-second CPS test became a standard benchmark on servers. In rhythm games, idle clickers and shooters with semi-automatic weapons, click rate is directly tied to score or damage. Outside games, a CPS test is a quick way to check whether a mouse switch is double-clicking or dropping inputs.

Accuracy of this CPS test

The counter registers each pointer-down event, so double-click detection doesn’t merge fast clicks. Timing uses the browser’s high-resolution clock, accurate to well under a millisecond. Right-clicks are ignored so an accidental context menu doesn’t inflate the count. The test doesn’t detect auto-clickers; it simply counts what the browser receives.

Frequently asked questions

Does the CPS test work on a phone?

Yes. Tap the box with one or more fingers. Multi-touch counts each finger, so two-thumb tapping gives higher scores than on a mouse.

Which duration should I use?

5 or 10 seconds if you want to compare with other players. 1 second for burst speed and 30 seconds or more if you’re testing stamina.

Why is my CPS lower than in game?

Some games count both mouse-down and mouse-up, or accept every click from a double-click. This test counts one per press, which is the stricter measure.

Can I use the keyboard?

Focus the box (Tab to it) and press Space or Enter. For a dedicated key test use the Spacebar Counter.

What is the world record CPS?

Claimed records with drag clicking exceed 20 CPS over short durations, though they depend heavily on the mouse and aren’t verified in any official way.

Are my scores saved?

Your best score per duration is stored in your browser only. Nothing is sent to a server.
