What this image cropper does

This image cropper lets you cut an image down to the part you want, right in your browser. Choose a photo, drag the crop box over the area to keep, pick a shape such as 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9 if you need a fixed ratio, and download the result as PNG, JPG or WebP. Your image is never uploaded: the crop happens on your own device.

How to crop an image

1. Press Choose an image or drop a file on the box.
2. Drag the crop box to move it. Drag a corner handle to make it larger or smaller.
3. Pick Free for any shape, or a ratio such as 1:1 for a square, 16:9 for video thumbnails or 3:4 for portraits.
4. Check the size under the picture. It shows the real pixel size of your crop.
5. Choose a format and press Download cropped image.

Keeping quality

The tool copies the selected pixels from your original image at full size. It does not shrink the picture, so a crop of a large photo stays sharp. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparency. JPG and WebP make smaller files, and the quality slider lets you trade size for detail. A JPG has no transparency, so any see-through area becomes white.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is opened and cropped inside your browser and nothing is sent to a server.

Which files can I open?

Any image your browser can display, including JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF. Very large images may be slow on older phones.

Can I resize the result too?

This tool crops only. To change the size afterwards, use our image resizer.

Why is the cropped file bigger than I expected?

PNG files are lossless and can be large. Choose JPG or WebP and lower the quality slider for a smaller file.
