This test compares the left and right sides of the face in the photo. It says nothing about attractiveness or health, and perfect symmetry does not exist in real faces. A tilted head, a smile or a wide-angle lens change the score.

What this face age detector does

This face age detector looks at a photo and estimates how old the person looks. Choose a clear, front-facing photo and the tool marks each face it finds and shows an estimated apparent age with a likely range. It runs in your browser: the photo is not uploaded and nothing is stored.

How to use it

Read the estimate for each face. A group photo lists up to six faces, largest first.

How accurate is it?

An age estimator guesses from patterns in skin, features and shape, so it can be wrong by 5 to 10 years or more. Lighting, makeup, a beard, glasses, expression, camera angle and a small or blurry face all change the result, and the model tends to guess closer to the middle of the age range. Treat the number as a fun estimate of how old the photo makes someone look, not as a real age.

What it must not be used for

Age verification. It is not accurate or reliable enough to decide if someone is old enough for anything.
Judging or identifying people. It does not know who anyone is.
Photos of other people without their permission.
