Sticks

Left: 0.000, 0.000

Right: 0.000, 0.000

Works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Nothing is sent anywhere: your browser reads the controller directly.

What this gamepad tester does

This gamepad tester shows exactly what your controller sends to the computer: every button press, how far each trigger is pulled, and where both sticks sit, live. It works with Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch Pro, 8BitDo, Logitech and most other USB or Bluetooth controllers, straight in the browser with nothing to install.

How to use it

  1. Connect the controller by cable or Bluetooth, then press any button. Browsers only reveal a controller after a button press, for privacy.
  2. Press each button. It lights up on the diagram and in the list, where the bar shows its analog value from 0.00 to 1.00.
  3. Move both sticks in full circles. The round traces show their range; a healthy stick draws a near-perfect circle that reaches the edge.
  4. Pick Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo to see the button names your controller actually uses.
  5. Several controllers connected? Switch between them with the tabs above the diagram.

Test for stick drift

Drift is when a stick reports movement while you aren’t touching it, so your character creeps or the camera slowly turns. Press Test stick drift, put the controller down and wait five seconds. The tester records the largest movement each stick reports at rest:

  • Below 0.05: no drift. Normal sensor noise.
  • 0.05 to 0.12: slight drift. Most games hide this with their dead zone.
  • Above 0.12: real drift you will notice in games. See our guide to fixing controller stick drift.

Other checks

Triggers: pull slowly and watch the value rise smoothly from 0 to 1. Jumps or a maximum below 1.00 point to a worn trigger. Vibration: Test vibration sends a short rumble where the browser supports it (Chrome and Edge do for most controllers). Update rate: shows roughly how often the controller reports, which helps spot a weak Bluetooth link.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn’t my controller show up?

Press a button after connecting; browsers hide controllers until then. If it still doesn’t appear, check the system sees it (Windows: Settings, Bluetooth & devices), try another USB cable that carries data, or try Chrome or Edge.

Does it work with PS5 and PS4 controllers?

Yes. The DualSense and DualShock 4 work over USB and Bluetooth in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Choose PlayStation to see Cross, Circle, Square and Triangle.

Can I test a controller on my phone?

Yes, on Android with Chrome. Pair the controller over Bluetooth, open this page and press a button. iPhone and iPad also support Xbox and PlayStation controllers in Safari.

Is any data sent anywhere?

No. Your browser reads the controller directly and nothing leaves your device.

Also handy for gamers: the CPS test for click speed and the spacebar counter for keyboard checks.
